Pike Central Middle/High School Athletics

The Pike Central Cross Country teams ran their first official 5k race of the season at the Harrier Classic in Brown County on Saturday. The girls race was first with the Lady Chargers finishing in 5th place amongst 12 teams and gave them a strong start to the season. Freshman Sadie Franklin led the way with a 16th place finish and was followed closely by sophomore Audrey Whitehead who finished in 25th place as she ran a career pr in her first race of the season. Other Charger finishers were: (Alyssa McCutchan 31st), Emiley Riker (41st), Kylie Meyer (68th), and Eva Cox (83rd). The Boys team did not have enough runners for a team score but had two finishers in this one. Finishing for the Chargers were: Taylor Russell (108th) and Jacob Harker (143rd). The next meet will be at Crawford County on Aug. 29th which will be the new site for the IHSAA Regional.
