The Pike Central Cross Country Teams opened up their season at the Terre Haute South Valley Kick-off this past Saturday. Approximately 35-40 schools were represented in the meet. It was hot and humid morning running on the challenging course but all PC runners gave a great effort in their first meet of the season. The boys team did not have enough runners to score in the meet but did have three runners cross the line. They were led by fresham Taylor Russell (21:26). Also finishing for the Chargers were Quintin McCormick (23:50) and Jacob Harker (27:32). The girls team finished 19th and had eight runners competing in the race with hopes of having the rest of their roster running next week. The Chargers were led by junior Alyssa McCutchan (21:54). Also finishing for the Chargers were: Emiley Riker (22:55), Kylee Weathers (23:49), Audrey Whitehead (26:20), Avery Adams (29:17), Channing Sorgius (29:36), Eva Cox (33:37), and Lydia Abel (36:50). Both teams gave a great effort and had several runners completing their first 5ks. The Chargers will compete next at the Brown County Harrier Invitational on Saturday, August 23rd.
